Daniel Hohm – Euphoniumist • Conductor • Educator
Daniel Hohm is a rising German euphonium soloist whose artistry spans performance, education, and musical advocacy. The first German student to study euphonium at the Royal Northern College of Music under Steven Mead and David Thornton, he graduated with BMus (First Class, 2024) and MPerf (Distinction, 2025). He was a two-time Gold Medal finalist at the RNCM (Death, 2024; A European Expedition, 2025) and 2nd Prize winner at the International Tuba Euphonium Conference (ITEC, 2024). Earlier in his career, Daniel was a Bundessieger at Jugend musiziert and received awards, including those from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, Deutsches Tuba-Forum and Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg.
Daniel currently serves as Principal Euphonium of the Hammonds Band and has appeared as soloist with ensembles including the Sinfonisches Jugendblasorchester Baden-Württemberg. His repertoire highlights include Johan de Meij’s UFO Concerto, Wilhelm’s Concertino, and Philip Sparke’s Harlequin. In addition to standard works, he curates recitals featuring underperformed repertoire and premieres by young composers, reflecting his fresh perspective and multidimensional artistry.
Beyond performing, Daniel is passionate about teaching and mentoring. He works with hobbyists, returning adults, and pre-professional students, offering goal-oriented guidance, practice strategies, and performance psychology techniques. Lessons are available in-person (Manchester) and online in English or German, allowing him to reach students across Europe.
He is supported by the Hans und Stefan Bernbeck-Stiftung and the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes, and was awarded the Noleen Ingham Scholarship (2021, 2024) at the RNCM, supporting both his undergraduate and his postgraduate studies. He continues to develop his artistry while combining music with academic studies in mathematics and expression through German poetry. Daniel also has growing experience as a conductor, bringing clarity and creativity from his solo work into ensemble leadership.
